LA-based distributor and producer GRB Entertainment had sold a slate of four docs in Brazil, Japan and the UK.
Globosat Brazil renewed Remembering Whitney, a doc about legendary singer Whitney Houston. The one-hour special celebrates the legacy of the Grammy award-winner, featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews with Houston, exclusive concerts, private home videos and insight from her family, including her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.
Over in Japan, Nippon Television Network has acquired Michael Sam — a 65-minute doc about the life of Michael Sam, the first openly gay U.S. football player in the NFL. Cameras follow Sam (pictured) on his journey from the University of Missouri to the biggest professional sports league in America.
Elsewhere, Sky UK acquired two docs including Confessions of a Superhero, which follows the lives of three men and one woman who make their living working as superhero characters on the sidewalks of the infamous Hollywood Boulevard.
Sky has also picked up The Mona Lisa Myth — a doc narrated by Morgan Freeman. The period docu-drama takes audiences through the ups and downs of Leonardo Da Vinci’s life, including his struggling years in Florence, the controversy surrounding The Mona Lisa and finally, his retirement at the French royal court in Amboise.
