Media Ranch Signs Exclusive Global TV & Digital Rights Deal With Steel Panther

Media Ranch, the 2015 Rose d’Or winning Canada-based TV production and distribution company has signed an exclusive worldwide linear TV and digital rights deal with the US comedy glam-rock band Steel Panther.

Media Ranch is developing a scripted comedy series that follows the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll fueled lives of vocalist Michael Starr, lead guitarist Satchel, drummer Stix Zadinia and bassist Lexxxi Foxx. The band is famed for their profane and humorous lyrics; flamboyant on stage personae and 1980’s glam metal lifestyle.

The band has millions of fierce and loyal fans around the world –  affectionately called “Fanthers” – who are set to pack stadiums throughout  their UK tour, including a sold-out show at Wembley Arena, in October 2016. Between shows, Steel Panther will jet over to MIPCOM in Cannes, France where they will perform an exclusive VIP acoustic show to invited television executives.

With 4 Billboard #1 comedy debuts and a string of albums including ‘Feel the Steel’, ‘Balls Out’ and 2014’s ‘All You Can Eat’, the band boasts an  impressive social media presence. They reach over 2 million fans each week, and can claim over 500,000 Facebook page likes, over 100m video views and 95m song plays, including 14m YouTube views and 74,000 YouTube subscribers. Their platinum-level YouTube status has been buoyed by high- profile appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Larry King Now, Dancing with  The Stars, and FOX NFL Sunday, to name a few.

LA-based GRB Entertainment is distributing the series globally.

The Steel Panther deal follows a series of international production successes and awards for Media Ranch. The company, headed up by Sophie Ferron, recently adapted the British TV hit ‘Life in The Kitchen’ for Canal Vie, was commissioned by Scripps Networks UK & EMEA and CMT (Canada) to produce key format ‘Baggage Battles’. 

2015 also saw Media Ranch scoop a prestigious Rose d’Or award for TV format ‘Street Jungle’ about parking enforcement officers that aired on Bell Media’s Canal D.
