GRB Studios kicks off 2021 with multiple sales

American content studio and global distribution company GRB Studios has secured a number of distribution deals with broadcasters from Africa to Europe, and UK/Ireland to the Middle East.

The package totals nearly 200 hours of content across a variety of genres, including comedy specials, action docuseries, investigative programs and more.

Germany’s ProSieben has acquired the docuseries Turquoise Fever, chronicling a Nevada gem-mining family, and reality series Auction Kings, offering a behind-the-scenes look at eclectic auctioneers, for German-speaking Europe. ViaSat, meanwhile, has taken Turquoise Fever for its viewers across Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

In the UK, AETN picked up the third season of Auction Kings, as well as the 10th season of investigative series On the Case, while nascent AVOD platform You Look picked up three culinary series in Eat Your Words (seasons one and two), Recipe Rehab, and two seasons of soul food docuseries Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s for its viewers in Ireland and the UK.

Elsewhere, MNET in Africa, Comedy Central Middle East and NextUP, a UK-based SVOD service, secured 18 stand-up comedy specials from such comedians as Eddie Griffin, Finesse Mitchell, Jermaine Fowler, Michael Yo, Whitney Cummings, Margaret Cho, Mose Kasher, D.L. Hughley, Janeane Garofalo, Maz Jobrani and Maria Bamford.
