GRB Studios pens AsiaPac territory sales

American content studio and global distribution company GRB Studios has inked a number of non-scripted sales deals in the Asian Pacific region.

Thailand’s True Vision has acquired two factual series in culinary competition series BBQ Pitmasters and Man at Arms: Art of War, which provides an in-depth look at the weapons and armor inundating popular culture.

Australian broadcaster Foxtel and Formulation in Japan have picked up investigative true crime series On the Case, while India’s AETN18 has taken sports clip and blooper series Whacked Out Sports.

GRB Studios Inks Deals Across AsiaPac

GRB Studios has made several sales across the Asia-Pacific region for its true-crime, sports-entertainment and cooking fare, including BBQ Pitmasters.

True Vision from Thailand has acquired the series, about the exciting world of competition barbequing where chefs put their saucy reputations on the line to win thousands of dollars. The company also took Man at Arms: Art of War, a look at weapons and armor that have played a starring role in pop culture, from movies to video games to comics to TV shows.

Foxtel Australia and Formulation in Japan took On the Case, a Discovery true-crime series now in its ninth season, which explores riveting murder mysteries through in-depth interviews with those closest to the case and cutting-edge forensic methods.

GRB STUDIOS AND M-NET SIGNED DEAL IN AFRICA

GRB Studios has signed many contracts in Africa, including the last season of Close Up with The Hollywood Reporter on the South African pay-TV channel M-Net.

M-Net has also acquired a series of holiday movies, including A Christmas Blessing, A Second Chance, Christmas, Can not Fight, Coins for Christmas, Miss Me this Christmas and The Christmas Exchange. In addition, M-Net has also chosen the scripted comedy Love That Girl, originally produced for TV One, about the life and times of a dynamic young woman who wreaks havoc or rules harmony. according to her mood.

Two series on true crime have also been sold in Africa. A & E has taken over several seasons of On the Case for its African audience. The real-life series explores the mysteries of murder through in-depth interviews with the closest people to the case and the latest methods of scientific policing. Canal + chose Stalker Files for Francophone Africa, focused on celebrities. The series tells the chilling tales behind celebrity harassment cases involving Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Steven Spielberg and others.

CBS Chellozone acquired, for Africa and the Middle East, seasons 1 to 3 of the auction series Auction Kings, as well as a special program; Blackstar TV (also known as the African Business Channel) features Living by Design, in which brothers and sisters Jake and Jazz Smollett join forces to transform the living, working and leisure spaces of millennial families.

My Channel has renewed two factual series, My First Home, taking viewers as couples experience the trials and tribulations of owning their first home, and Wildlife Docs, after extraordinary veterinarians who rescue exotic wild animals.

A&E picked up several seasons of the murder mystery series On the Case for the region, while Canal+ took the celebrity-focused Stalker Files, which explores celebrity stalking cases, for French-speaking Africa.

CBS Chellozone acquired the competition series Auction Kings (S1-3, special) for Africa and the Middle East; Blackstar TV (African Business Channel) took Living by Design, in which brother and sister duo Jake and Jazz Smollett team up to transform the living, work, and play spaces of millennial families.

My Channel renewed two factual series: My First Home, which follows couples as they experience the trials and tribulations of owning their first home; and Wildlife Docs, a wildlife adventure following veterinarians who save exotic wild animals.

GRB shows head to Africa

Broadcasters in Africa have acquired scripted and factual programming from US-based producer and distributor GRB Studios.

Pan-African broadcaster MNet has picked up shows including scripted comedy Love That Girl, originally produced for TV One, and a package of holiday films such as A Christmas Blessing, You Can’t Fight Christmas and The Christmas Swap.

Elsewhere, A+E Networks has taken several seasons of On the Case for its channels in Africa, while Canal+ has taken celebrity-focused Stalker Files for French-speaking Africa. The latter tells the chilling tales behind celebrity stalking cases involving Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Steven Spielberg and others.

Other channels in Africa to have acquired programming from GRB Studios, in deals brokered by sales consultant Liz Levenson, include CBS Chello Zone, Blackstar TV and My Channel. Levenson will be speaking at DISCOP Johannesburg, which runs from November 20 to 22, and will be representing GRB at the event.

GRB: Australian 10 Play acquired all five seasons of Amazon Series “The Bay”

The Amazon series is a multi-Emmy Award winning program and is the first drama series in history to have received four consecutive wins in the Scripted Drama category. The series will begin airing in Australia in Q4 2019.

The Daytime Emmy-winning Amazon Prime drama is set to premiere on Network Ten’s on-demand platform later this year. It follows the wealthy residents in a town led by a cruel politician and stars Ronn Moss, Mary Beth Evans, Tristan Rogers and Kristos Andrews.

GRB Studios strikes pact for trio of reality shows from OWN

US-based GRB Studios has picked up global sales rights to three reality shows from OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

The deal, which applies outside of the US, will see GRB distributing shows including To Have And To Hold: Charlotte, a 10 x 60 minute series that explores the daily financial and relationship challenges faced by couples.

Also on GRB’s slate is Ready To Love, a 24 x 60 minute dating series that follows the interactions of successful men and women in their 30s and 40s, along with Love And Marriage.

The latter 21 x 60 minute series centers around the lives of three high-powered couples who come together to revitalise the city of Huntsville, Alabama, through their joint real estate venture.

“GRB is known for its diversity, in both programming content and non-scripted genres,” said Sarah Coursey, who was appointed to become GRB Studios SVP of international in August.

GRB Studios has acquired three dramatic reality shows from OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, securing the global rights (excluding the U.S.) to the programs.

Among the series GRB picked up is To Have and to Hold: Charlotte, which tackles the real challenges couples face—from troubled finances to potential separations—following five affluent couples from North Carolina. US-based producer and distributor GRB Studios has acquired global distribution rights – excluding the US – to three reality titles from the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

GRB has picked up To Have and to Hold: Charlotte (10×60’). The series follows five affluent couples from North Carolina as they encounter and overcome real-life problems.

Ready to Love (24×60’) has also been acquired. The Atlanta-based dating series sees men and women in their 30s and 40s looking for lasting love.
